standards and practices for networks

Does anyone have a color coding scheme for their network cabinets? I’m curious if there is some sort of standard.

Currently, my workplace is using something similar to this:

Tan - Patch Cables
Black - Serial Connections
Orange - Cross-Over Cables
Green - Wireless AP’s

We color code the wall keystones as well:

Orange - Data
Gray - Phone
Black - Serial

It makes it really easy to look at a cabinet/wall plate and understand very quickly what’s going on. Does anyone have a different standard? Is this important? Is there a ‘real’ standard we should be using?

I think there is some standard color coding … it’s something to strive towards for sure. We talk about it each year, but haven’t done much in that regards to date.
