Hackintosh
I figured it was only a matter of time before this was possible (I suppose it was always possible, but now it’s easy [easier?]). Also, I love the term… Hackintosh! I wonder if this will become a defacto standard name? I suppose you do have to at least question the legality, it is after all ‘patched’.
I’ve been increasingly fascinated with Apple. Ever since the iPod Video, I’ve constantly tested the Apple waters. I’m not a complete convert, but I am now at least a fan.
I know the Apple zealots will tell me Apple is a hardware company, and this lacks the style, flash, and beauty of a true Apple device and shouldn’t even count. Perhaps. But they make darn good software too. It’s not just the hardware, there is a LOT to be said for the experience. If it wasn’t for the software (iPod), I wouldn’t have even given Apple a chance.
The Mac Mini is a staple in my living room as my media center. I have no intention or desire of trading that in for an iTV or whatever the thing is called.
Plus, we’re considering switching to Mac for our worship experiences on Sunday. (Any church using Macs for media wanna give a tour/demo? I’m looking for road trip.)
We’ve been using macs as our main worship computers for slightly more than a year with great success. We use ProPresenter for our main weekend worship and youth events. I’d never go back. I’d be happy to show you our setup if you’re in the area.
