When we first switched to Media Shout we were using songshow plus. We had one volunteer who loved it. Again, like with EasyWorship, it never really impressed me.

I'm a big believer in using the right tool for the right job. I think SongShow Plus, EasyWorship, and Media Shout all have big followings, and are great options. But I also feel like all of those programs require some technical know how. I have it. Some of my volunteers have it. But not everyone has it. I was showing ProPresenter to someone the other day. I wouldn't consider them techie. They were clicking around and figuring things out in PP pretty quickly. I think that says something.

Had you looked at SongShow Plus (http://www.songshowplus.com/)? My opinion is that they have the best Windows based woship software. They are adding .MOV playback very soon! We use it at all our locations (20+ installs) except one, and quite a few are running on laptops (Dell D830's) with full motion backgrounds running fine. Just our experience.

Thanks for chiming in guys!

David,
Yea, I looked at other windows options, but I was always most impressed with media shout. I'm not sure why, probably just a preference thing.

Brad,
I watched all the videos several times before we purchased just to make sure ProPresenter was for us. No one does church like us nearby, so we didn't know any one else using Pro that we could go see. The videos were great! Thank You.

Yes, pro does Bibles. But we aren't doing our message slides with pro, we're using Keynote now, so the Bibles in pro won't be nearly as helpful compared to when EVERYTHING was in media shout.

Also, I love that in media shout I could go into the song and say v1, ch1, v2, ch1, bridge, ch1 and the song is done. What if we took out the bridge next time? I'd just go into the song order and remove it. Pro doesn't work that way. If I take out the bridge it's gone! I'll have to type it in again if I want it back. That's annoying. I did see where you can disable slides in a song now, so that will help, Although it will still show the disabled slide on the interface and that's just cluttered to me. How about a feature to toggle if the disabled slides are visible? That would be good enough for me anyway.

Thanks for making the switch. I do want to address your concerns, however:

I highly recommend you watch the video tutorials on editing slides. ProPresenter uses a song database that is completely searchable by title or by the text of slides. As for editing, you have MANY options. You can drag and drop slides from one part of a song to another (the command key must be held down to drag as the system itself is a point and click interface, so there needs to be something done to tell it that you want to edit rather than make the slide live), option-drag slides to duplicate them at other parts of the song, right-click a slide and choose "QuickEdit" to make changes to a slide while your are in the middle of a worship song, and much, much more. I hope this helps your dread.

If you set up a playlist with all of the elements of a service, you can just use the arrow keys or the space bar to go through your entire program.

You are aware also that ProPresenter has built in Bible lookup, correct?

I hope this helps!

Did you look at other Windows options? I'm not against Mac for media, but we've successfully used EasyWorship on a Windows box for years and not only does it do amazing transitions and have excellent-looking text (two of the big reasons we went with it years ago), but it's also very good at its core feature set, even though it doesn't have every bell and whistle. I can't speak to Quicktime playback but we're using DivX primarily with good results (we have a volunteer who would know the Quicktime side better). When we produce video in-house it's made on a Mac and converted to DivX for playback in EasyWorship.

I'm less involved on a week-to-week basis than I ever was right now with that stuff but I put EasyWorship into place and was the primary runner for a couple of years. I know a few people including myself would be happy switching to ProPresenter here, but we have at least four main auditoriums, all of which run EasyWorship and can easily share content. Replacing all of those at once would be a big project, and replacing some of them would ruin the inter-compatibility.

Interesting to hear your MediaShout issues...I haven't used it personally for more than 5 minutes but those were a bad 5 minutes a couple of years ago, and someone I know has been under-impressed with more recent versions! But thanks for the specifics, that could be very helpful at some point!
